Today I thought a good topic would be about self care. Sometimes people focus more on others happiness and needs rather than themselves. You are important! Self care is important! If a person can’t take care of their self then they will be of no use to another person although they may feel they are.
Self care is when we purposely do things in order to take care of our mental and emotional health. When we practice self care we are lowering our risks of getting depressed, anxious and possibly burning ourselves out. It is never selfish to devote time to ourselves for self care.
In order to practice self care it’s important to do things you enjoy doing that are healthy for you. What type of things do you enjoy? I know for myself I love nature and being outdoors. I love the sounds of nature, the wind, the rain, the birds chirping, waves, the smell of the leaves, bonfires and much more that goes along with the outdoors.
I always feel a sense of peace when I’m outside in the woods. How about you? What brings you a sense of peace? Everybody has their own activity that may work for them, I just wanted to give you an idea of what works for myself. Some people find exercising helps them feel better.
Exercising is something that many people want to do more of but of course it’s easier said than done for most of us. Starting little by little at a time is the best way to begin if this is something you do want to begin for yourself. Doing too much right away doesn’t work out too well at the end. Make reasonable goals for yourself, you can always add more later on when you feel you are ready to do more.
